A Rural Retreat

The Granary is a beautiful self-catering rural retreat — a converted cart shed below and granary above, with an open-plan kitchen and sitting room full of character, beams, and a glowing wood burner. Set in an original Welsh farmyard on a five-and-a-half acre organic smallholding, it is very private with its own garden and positioned on a large terrace looking straight down the valley. The nearest neighbour is a quarter of a mile away.

The Space

Downstairs is an open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining area with glass-fronted wood burner. The kitchen is well equipped for self-catering, with the kitchen and stairs built from sycamore and beech from our own woodland. One double bedroom is off the hallway downstairs. Upstairs there is a master bedroom with double bed, a landing bedroom with a double bed, and a bathroom. A new bedroom has been created downstairs with a double bed. The Granary sleeps 6 comfortably. There is also a small pull-out single in the master bedroom, suitable for children.

There is also a second terrace below with an outdoor fire pit, and a very private rear garden that the double doors open onto. Ideal for entertaining, barbecuing or games.

Facilities

Electricity included. LPG gas for cooker included. Fresh linen supplied. Towels not supplied as standard but available on request. Log basket filled for short stays (2 nights) as part of the package; additional loads £10 per barrow load. TV with Freeview. No wifi in the property but available in the yard outside the main house — good 4G signal. High chair, charcoal BBQ, picnic table, outdoor seating, local maps, games, adult and children's books. Children very welcome — lovely large lawn area for play.

The Grounds

Within the grounds there is a hectare of recently planted native woodland to explore and an established wildlife pond. The Goetre is on a bore-hole for freshwater, tested annually — absolutely pure drinking water, no need for bottled water. Llanidloes is 4 miles away with independent shops, a Co-op, Spar, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Saturday is market day. Please support our rural community and local businesses.
